Short description: Tiskādi Old -Believers Prayer House was built in 1680, a new one building was erected in 1886. The congregation is the oldest one in Latvia. In 1940s Tiskādi Old-Believers congregation was the second biggest one after Rīga Grebenščikova parish.
It is situated in the district which is mostly populated by Old Believers. There exists a legend about the place name: a group of fugitive old-believers settled here and built their houses, and the houses were so „pressed” (Russian – «тискались») between two earlier built houses by people who settled here earlier.
