Ceramics workshop „Cukrasāta” works respecting ancient traditions; there are authentic work conditions in a modern world. The ceramics is burnt in a hole made in the ground type of kiln that serves getting a reduced or black ceramic ware. The black colour of the pots distinguishes their texture and silhouette that looks well in every interior. Stanislavs Vilums is one of the potters of “Pūdnīku skūla” that is a Latvian Culture Foundation group. He has created a unique style based on the accumulated traditions of the ancestors. He creates his ceramic ware on the potter’s wheel. Viola Anna Bīriņa makes the ceramic ware using only hand building method, and it has a completely different style that has become known with time.

When booking a tour in advance, it is possible to see a process of a traditional pottery making, to hear different stories about the tradition of pottery as well as participate in firing the kiln and opening it.
